Since 1997, Methodist School of Music is a well recognised music school in Singapore where every note is played with intention. We offer lessons in piano, organ, violin, guitar and voice for learners of all ages and abilities. Our experienced teachers nurture both skill and confidence in every student. Beyond individual lessons, we also train worship leaders and musicians to serve their churches with heart and depth. Our community programmes bring together children, youths, seniors and families to connect through music-making. I enrolled Jake into the choir not quite sure of what to expect as Jake has autism…

Jake managed to sing a little on the day of the concert and we were happy that he had fun. Surprisingly, Jake started to sing at home some of the songs that he performed at the concert a few weeks after the term ended. He could remember the lyrics even though we did not practise any of the songs after the concert. He even started to do the vocal warm-ups that Miss Jacqueline used to prepare the students to sing.

Finally found a music school where my son, who has dyslexia and high energy can learn music.

Jacqueline, the music therapist, is patient and creative and able to match my son’s energy while engaging him and meeting him at his level during class. He used to hide under the piano bench and stomp on the pedals, now he gets to stomp on music pads when he needs a movement break. My son enjoys lessons and says “it’s not boring”.
